Stealing Christian Music???

Ok....so I bought this CD from Amazon because I thought I had lost it...and it's one of my favorite albums... When I got it in the mail....The CD itself had a serial number on it and it said Baltimore County Public Library. Sounded to me like I had just bought stolen CD from Amazon. I had contimplated just shutting up and keeping the CD...I had paid for it after all....but i kept getting bothered by the fact that I could be listening to a Stolen CD. So I emailed the Seller and asked. He told me that he had "bought" from the library. When they no longer needed certain items, would sell them. This sounded believeable enough to me. but I had to make sure. So I found out that there were around 15 Baltimore County Public Libraries and emailed all of them. It made my day to find out that I hadn't bought stolen goods. I've gotten 5 responses so far from the different Libraries. And since they made my day I thought I'd share them with you guys.

Joseph,
Thank you for your attention to and concern for our library material. I have checked our system and the CD that you purchased from Amazon was not stolen. Periodically we will withdraw material from our collection and put it out for sale. In turn, many of the people that purchase our material then sell it on Amazon, ebay, etc.
Again, thank you for your honesty in contacting us, but enjoy your new CD!

Baltimore County Library does withdraw and sell items we no longer need in our collections. The item number you gave me is no longer listed as active. It seems to be an item that a customer bought legitimately in one of our sales, then resold to you. Thanks so much for being concerned enough to check with us.

Dear Mr. Bragg,
Thank you for calling our attention to library material you purchased from Amazon.com. I have checked the number attached to your CD and it has been withdrawn from our collection.
When Baltimore County Public library withdraws its materials, they are available for purchase by customers. The library is then able to purchase more materials with sold items. You can rest assured the item is no longer property of the Baltimore County Public library.
I sincerely want to thank you for taking the time to verify your purchase was not stolen material. I do hope you enjoy your CD.

Sincerely yours,
Mercedes G. Mendoza

Dear Joseph,

Thanks for being so honest! I've just checked our catalog, and the item number you gave is not listed; that means that the CD you have has been withdrawn, so it probably was purchased from our sale shelves. We do know that some of our customers regularly check the "for sale" items (withdrawn or donated) at our branches, and buy books and CD's specifically for resale on the net, which may have happened to your CD. Thanks for investigating, and happy listening!
